Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) is an ancient Indian herb native to South America. Passionflower is a fast-growing climbing perennial herb growing up to 40 cm tall. Its stems are smooth, sometimes hairy, but always long and climbing with many secondary tendrils. The leaves are alternate, compound, palmately compound, three-lobed or occasionally five-lobed and quite large (measuring about 6-15 cm in length). It has characteristic glands at the base and on the petiole. The passion flower has five blue-white petals. The crown is white and purple. For phytotherapeutic purposes, the flowering stem is collected - the passion flower blooms during July. Interestingly, it blooms for only one day. The herb has a relaxing effect, affects the quality of sleep. It is able to relieve stress. The provisions of Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on nutrition and health claims do not allow us to inform you about the effects of this herb on your body. Please consult freely available sources or herbarium for information on its action. Traditional Uses: Pour 200 ml of boiling water over one teaspoon of dried passion flower, let it infuse for 10-15 minutes and then strain. Take 3 times a day as needed.
