The tansy is an herb resembling a reddish-purple nettle. It is a native herb of North America and its use as a traditional herb was widespread among Native Americans who used it for a variety of problems. Immigrants adopted the use of this traditional herb and included it in their folk medicine preparations. After Lloyd Brothers Pharmacists produced several preparations of comfrey, it became a very popular remedy in the 1890s and was part of almost every home medicine cabinet in the USA. Its use declined in the 1930s, and echinacea did not see its rediscovery until the 1970s, when it was enthusiastically welcomed by herbalists. Echinacea (purple coneflower) is a traditional herb with no side effects. In the 1950s and 1980s, several studies were conducted proving that it supports the immune system, affecting the body's natural defenses.   Interesting research was conducted by German scientists on a group of 42 triathletes who were given mineral supplements, a placebo or milk thistle three times a day. The group that was given echinacea showed the lowest impairment of the immune system. Echinacea purpurea - purple coneflower is very good for supporting the lower urinary tract. Taking echinacea will boost the immune system and support urinary tract health. Traditionally, echinacea is used for upper respiratory health. Taking it to support respiratory health is especially recommended during risky times in the fall or winter when we have a weakened immune system.   Externally, echinacea is used as a poultice for minor skin injuries, burns, etc. In folk phytotherapy it is used for swollen lymph nodes, stomach spasms and insect bites.   If we want to prepare a tincture, it can be made using 60% alcohol, which we soak so that the total weight of the root of the thistle is 30-60%. It can also be prepared from the fresh juice of the stems or flowers, which is cold-pressed. This should then be stabilised with alcohol. It is also cultivated as an ornamental plant in beds and open plantings, usually in large quantities of a similar species. Garden cultivars have many specific colourations with different growth types. In terms of cultivation, it is a very tolerant and undemanding perennial. Although it prefers sunny locations and permeable soils, the nutrient content can be lower and it can also be grown in dry locations with partial shade. Dosage. 15 ml of water per cup. The decoction is sweet at first, then becomes bitter. Take the decoction prepared in this way 2 times a day. Note: It does not replace a varied diet. Keep out of reach of children. Do not exceed the recommended daily dosage.
