The difference between CBD oil and CBD flowers

CBD oil

Oral use of CBD is overwhelmingly the most popular. It is possible to find drops, capsules, tinctures, sprays, gum or candies on the market. However, the onset of effects is slower. However, if you hold a reasonable amount of CBD oil under your tongue for 20 to 30 seconds and allow it to enter the bloodstream more quickly, you will feel the effects of cannabidiol within about half an hour (most users within ten minutes).

Advantages and disadvantages of CBD oil:

  • CBD oil has a stronger concentration of cannabidiol than flowers, so the effects may be more intense
  • With broad spectrum oils, there is a guarantee of a product without traces of THC, with CBD there is no possibility of an accompaniment effect, where the individual components reinforce each other's effects
  • The oil can be used in the kitchen for baking and in salads or in homemade topical preparations (for use on the skin)
  • If your pet has health problems, you can give it CBD drops (those intended for humans won't harm it, but there are products on the market specifically for animals without THC)
  • Taking CBD oil has no negative effect on the respiratory or other systems in the body
  • The purchase price of high quality CBD oil is relatively high, but the different concentrations of the oil (from 2.5% to 40%) and the drop-by-drop dosage should be taken into account
  • The effects are delayed by a few minutes, but last longer than when vaping CBD flowers
  • The taste and smell of CBD oil is specific (earthy and grassy taste) and does not go under everyone's nose, but it is possible to influence it by choosing a carrier oil (most often coconut, arnica, grape or avocado), thanks to which the original taste and smell is muted and the product gets extra benefits such as improving skin condition or aiding digestion
  • Average bioavailability ranges between 6 and 19%

CBD flowers

CBD flower (hemp bud) is the female flower of the Cannabis sativa plant with a maximum THC content of 0.3 % (in the Czech Republic the limit is 1 %). It is the most important part of the cannabis plant, full of cannabidiol and other phytocannabinoids.

Vapování CBD květů má svoje výhody. Tou největší je rychlost nástupu účinků.

Advantages and disadvantages of CBD flowers:

  • CBD flowers are mostly used for vaping, but can also be processed in other ways (cooking and baking, or in the production of teas and cosmetics)
  • The onset of the effects is immediate, but unfortunately it wears off faster (usually after an hour)
  • Each plant has its own terpene profile and can have not only a different smell and taste, but also slightly different effects (this depends on the type and strength of the flowers)
  • Affordability and greater experience (slight feelings of intoxication may occur due to the potency of CBD flowers (cannabidiol is non-psychoactive)
  • Vapour inhalation is of course healthier than smoking, but can still put a strain on the lungs in the long term (the risk is minimal)
  • Bioavailability higher than that of CBD oil (sublingual administration), reaching 31%

Effect on the endocannabinoid system

It is not commonly talked about, but the endocannabinoid system plays a very important role in our body. It is the body's signalling system, which enables our body to maintain balance and stability of the internal environment (homeostasis), for example during injury, hormonal fluctuations, sleep deprivation, stress or hunger and pain.

CBD can have a positive effect on the endocannabinoid system. It is one of the most sought-after cannabinoids (currently led by HHC) for its effects, where it can reduce chronic pain, relieve anxiety and improve resistance to stress, facilitate healing and promote recovery, prevent inflammation and infection, and help against skin problems. Both vaping CBD flowers and taking CBD oil can improve the body's functioning and thus support the smooth functioning of the endocannabinoid system.

Summary

Both CBD flowers and CBD drops have their own specifics and a number of advantages and disadvantages. While the flowers take effect right away, the oils are more stable in terms of duration of effects. To a large extent, the effects and their intensity depend on the type of CBD flower and the concentration of CBD oil. However, there's nothing stopping you from combining CBD flowers and drops (a common intake of CBD is around 60 mg per day).
