HHC-O: Production, effects, potency and supply

What is HHC-O?

HHC-O is a derivative of hexahydrocannabinol (HHC). While HHC is found in small amounts in the cannabis plant (although in practice it is most commonly produced by hydrogenation of CBD), HHC-O is not found in cannabis and is produced by a chemical reaction called acylation, in which acetate is added to the hydrogenated form of HHC. The addition of acetate changes the structure of the cannabinoid and therefore some of its properties.

What effects should we expect from HHC-O?

We have little information on the effects of HHC-O yet, because it is a new cannabinoid and there are no clinical studies looking at the effects of HHC-O on the body and mind.

It is reported that HHC-O has similar effects to HHC, but they are enhanced due to a change in chemical structure. HHC is known to induce feelings of relaxation, euphoria, improve sleep and relieve anxiety and stress. Both HHC and HHC-O are compounds with psychoactive properties, so they can also cause altered perception.

As for the side effects of HHC-O, here too we can only assume the effects attributed to HHC and other analogue derivatives such as THC-O.

Possible side effects:

  • dry mouth
  • anxiety
  • redness of the eyes
  • insomnia
  • rapid heartbeat
  • dizziness
  • paranoia

The unpleasant symptoms should subside within a few hours. At higher doses or concentrations, the risk of side effects is greater.

HHC-O vapes, flowers and cartridges

Although HHC-O is a relatively new cannabinoid, you can now get HHC-O vape pens, cartridges, flowers, and HHC-O hash.

HHC-O flowers are buds of technical cannabis with a higher CBD content and a permitted THC limit infused with HHC-O distillate.

Vape foams and cartridges contain terpenes from popular cannabis varieties, with a choice of flavours and concentrations. These vapes often combine HHC-O with other cannabinoids such as HHC, CBD, CBG, or extra strong HHC-P. If you want to try any of the HHC products, always start with a low dose and follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

How strong is HHC-O?

Some sources report that HHC-O is 1.5-3 times stronger than HHC. However, this is a rather misleading claim that cannot be backed up by any relevant studies. It should be taken into account that cannabinoids may affect each user differently, it always depends on the health of the individual, his/her immune system, metabolism, sensitivity and other factors.

Conclusion

HHC-O is a newly discovered cannabinoid, a derivative of HHC, and therefore has very similar but enhanced effects. HHC-O is not on the list of banned substances, but it should be taken into account that there are no clinical studies yet to inform us about the effects on the body and mind, especially in the long term. When trying new cannabinoids, it is important to be cautious, start slowly and always choose only trustworthy vendors.
