What is 10-OH-HHCP?

10-OH-HHCP, full name 10-hydroxy-hexahydrocannabiphorol, is a hydroxy derivative of hexahydrocannabiphorol (HHCP).

10-OH-HHCP is formed by oxidation of HHCP with the participation of the enzyme cytochrome P450, which is predominantly located in the liver. During this process, a hydroxyl group (-OH) consisting of one oxygen atom covalently bonded to one hydrogen atom is attached to the tenth position of hexahydrocannabiphorole.

HHCP is derived from hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) and differs in having a longer side chain, with HHCP having an alkyl chain two carbons longer than HHC.

HHCP has seen success as a strengthened version of HHC. A 2018 study showed that the length of the side chains in cannabinoid molecules can affect how well they can bind to receptors and how they act in the body. Therefore, the molecule in question may show better activity at CB1 receptors in the endocannabinoid system.
