What is 10-OH-HHC?

10-OH-HHC sounds a bit like a chemical riddle, doesn't it? 🤔 It is an abbreviation for 10-hydroxyhexahydrocannabinol, which is a hydroxy derivative of hexahydrocannabinol (HHC).

10-OH-HHC is produced with the help of an enzyme called cytochrome P450, which is mainly found in the liver.

The basis for its production is HHC synthesis, whereby HHC undergoes a transformation in which a hydroxyl group (-OH) is attached to the 10th position of the nucleus. This modification improves the solubility of the substance and changes how the compound interacts with the body's receptors in the endocannabinoid system.
